As a speaker for schools, I was contacted by St Mary's High School in Croydon to help inspire 130 teenage girls. My first impression was my amazement at seeing only 9 white faces in the sea of expectant faces. It certainly wasn't a diverse school in terms of ethnic diversity.
St Mary's is considered an inner city school and is headed by a remarkable priciple who prides herself on offering her students other avenues in which to take their lives. Hence my invitation. I am always thrilled to do occasions such as this, as in my opinion, it is the schools such as these that need the inspiration to break free from routes that many would think are already set for them.
