After all this time through the months of the pandemic, we have all been wondering when we can re-open our businesses. What a sorry sight the stranded high street began to look. Locked up hair salans, boarded up pubs and empty shops.
But moving on 3 months - Milly J Shoes is thrilled to say that it has decided to re-open on July 4th! We so look forward to seeing you then.
We've missed you!

It was a very surreal surprise to open my email the other day to discover that I had been nominated and put forward as one of Norfolk's 100 Most inspiring Women! To be nominated is one thing, but to be chosen among many inspiring women in my opinion is another, Thank you for believing in the causes that I continue to fight for. https://www.edp24.co.uk/features/100-most-inspiring-women-in-norfolk-1-6294621

Many know that I was originally trained as a professional actress and singer and the fluidity of the creative arts is very important to me.
I am thrilled to be raising awareness and singing for the Mudeka Foundation show. The foundation was established by Anna Mudeka and raises funds for orphaned children in Zimbabwe. As I too was an orphan, this is especially important to me.
I will be singing solos and alongside Soprano Emma Nuule.
Tickets are still available and the rehearsal was filmed by the BBC with Emma and I sitting on the BBC Look East couch this Friday prior to the show.
Photos are from yesterday's rehearsal.

Matthew Gudgin - is one of the main BBC Norfolk Radio hosts, runs a Tuesday guest slot whereby the team choose an individual within Norfolk to be interviewed. The surprsing part is that all theguests have made contributuons to Norfolk life and have indeed had interesting lives thus far!
It is also considered to be the, "Desert Island Discs" of Norfolk. Choosing just 6 songs was a hard feat to achieve!

Norfolk has a strong history in footwear manufacturing. in the late 1700s, James smith was one of the founding fathers of mass producing shoes when he realised that most people had similar sized feet. Creating lasts that could take away the small scale, bespoke creation. His grandson later branded the shoes as - Start-rite.
Spring forward several centuries and the 1930s saw the emergence of Van dal Shoes who also manufactured shoes in the city. However, we have now heard of the sad demise of one of the last remaining footwear factories in the country.
With this news, the BBC called me to chat about the future of British footwear and to visit me in my shop. The interview was aired on the Nick Conrad show yesterday and can be found on BBC iplayer at timescale 2:08:50 with the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06g3c3x

Receiving an email from BBC News Look East's, Susie Fowler-Watt inviting me onto their news couch was quite surreal. Upon hearing of my shoes, awards and business endeavours, Susie immediately got me to chat to both her and Stewart.
A fascinating evening going behind the scenes, finding about the news process. Susie was enthralled by her Milly J Shoe clips and plans to visit the shop soon!
The footage can only viewed until 7pm GMT tonight. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b094dg76/look-east-evening-news-14092017

This post was actually from last month - though it was a wonderful article created by the classy, handbag sized, Vanilla Magazine. Copies can be picked up from upmarket boutiques, hotels and shops.
