Helping to motivate and inspire the next generation has always been at the helm of Milly J Shoes. Receiving an invite from an outstanding school, Thorpe St Andrew in Norwich was a delight to accept. I was asked to give a talk and workshop with a series of textiles groups, as textiles has been removed from the curriculum. This was an opportunity to try to reinvigorate this subject within the students. We found ways to evealuate ways in which to design for clients with the students been receptive and creative.
Look out for future collaborations between Milly J Shoes and Thorpe St Andrew.

I was very lucky to be interviewed on the BBC Look East News couch alongside fellow soloist, Emma Nuule. The slot was hosted by BBC stalwarts, Stewart White and Amelia Reynolds, discussing our night of performance and singing for the Mudeka Foundation.
It was a dash from the studios to the stage for the night's performance however!

Norfolk has a strong history in footwear manufacturing. in the late 1700s, James smith was one of the founding fathers of mass producing shoes when he realised that most people had similar sized feet. Creating lasts that could take away the small scale, bespoke creation. His grandson later branded the shoes as - Start-rite.
Spring forward several centuries and the 1930s saw the emergence of Van dal Shoes who also manufactured shoes in the city. However, we have now heard of the sad demise of one of the last remaining footwear factories in the country.
With this news, the BBC called me to chat about the future of British footwear and to visit me in my shop. The interview was aired on the Nick Conrad show yesterday and can be found on BBC iplayer at timescale 2:08:50 with the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06g3c3x
